Pricing of Telecommunications Services

The National Communications Authority play a crucial role in ensuring fair pricing of telecommunications services, the National Communications Authority is tasked with overseeing pricing of Telecommunications Services within the Federal Republic of Somalia to prevent monopolistic practices,
promote competition, and protect consumer interests.

According to article 2 of the National Communications Law, the National Communications Authority is responsible for the facilitation and the establishment of a modern sale of telecommunications services based on the quality of services provided, as well as article 3 of the National Communications Law, the National Communications Authority must safeguard the development and advancement of communication services, taking into consideration the needs of consumer and the economy of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and article 6 the National Communications Law, the National Communications Authority must advise on pricing of telecommunications services, establish conducts to strengthen market competition, perform conflict resolution and protect consumer rights specially in relation to pricing of services.

By establishing guidelines and regulations, the National Communications Authority aims to maintain a level playing field for all market players, encouraging innovation and investment, as well as monitoring pricing structures to ensure they are transparent, reasonable, and accessible to all segments of society. Through regular market analysis and interventions, the National Communications Authority strive to strike a balance between fostering a competitive market environment and safeguarding the sustainability and quality of telecommunication services for the benefit of consumers.
