As part of Somalia’s national disaster risk reduction efforts, the National Communications Authority (NCA) plays a pivotal role in the Early Warning for All (EW4All) Initiative—a global program led by the United Nations to ensure everyone on Earth is protected by early warning systems by 2027.
NCA serves as the lead agency for Pillar 3: Warning Dissemination and Communication, working to ensure that timely and reliable alerts reach communities through robust communication networks. This involves close collaboration with mobile network operators, broadcasters, and other stakeholders to enhance Somalia’s national alerting systems.
Through its leadership, NCA supports the development of interoperable communication protocols, strengthens digital and radio infrastructure, and promotes public awareness and preparedness in the face of climate-related hazards. The Authority is committed to leveraging technology and policy to ensure early warnings are accessible, inclusive, and actionable—ultimately safeguarding lives and livelihoods across the country.
